A Javascript Library That Discourages and Prevents Image Theft/Download | ProtectImage.js

ProtectImage.js is a Javascript library that helps prevent image theft by disrupting traditional user interactions to download/copy images. This is useful for copyrighted images.

ProtectImage.js uses the HTML5 CanvasAPI and the Protected Image theme to protect your images. It disables and prevents the client from downloading, copying, and duplicating image titles by transferring the image to a canvas. Unlike images that are protected by layers, this prevents the source of the image from being visible through the developer tools.

Note: It is recommended to wrap the ProtectImageJS functions in the window.onload event to ensure that the image and patterns are finished loading.

How to make use of it:

1. Import the script.min.js JavaScript library into the doc.

<script src="src/script.min.js"></script>

2. Add the protected attribute to images.

<img src="1.jpg" protected />

3. Initialize the library and complete it.

window.onload = function() {

4. The library will present the picture on an HTML5 canvas component as an alternative and hide the true picture path within the console log:

<canvas width="620" height="465"></canvas>
<img src="" protected="">
